Happy FIRST Birthday Leighton!!

Leighton this morning before school....

Leighton one year ago....Sorry...this pic is kinda gross but it is one of the only ones we have from the night she was born where she doesn't have on a CPAP and ugly cords all over her.

This was me getting ready for surgery one year ago...I sure am glad all that swelling in my face went down!! I looked terrible!!

WOW how time flies! I can't believe it was a year ago when Mamie came to take my blood pressure, she told us to pack our bags, and shortly after the Doctor told me I was going to have a baby in 30 minutes. I thought I had 5 more weeks. My dad and Andy's mom were both out of town ...All I kept thinking to myself was - this can't be happening. By the time I had my Csection and they let everyone see the baby (except for me because they put me in the "black room") most everyone had made it to the hospital. It was the night of the 26th before I got to see and hold Leighton. I will never forget that moment when I finally got to hold her! After 2 weeks in the NICU she got to come home with us. The hardest day of those 2 weeks was the day I had to leave the hospital and she didn't get to come home with me. That afternoon one of the babies in the NICU passed away. I didn't get to go back into the NICU until the next morning. I was very sad for that family but I think in some way it was God's way of telling me it could be so much worse. I had a peace that 2 weeks she was there but I owe that to all to my friends and family that prayed for us during that difficult time. Leighton has been the biggest blessing God has ever given us. We thank Him for her everyday. This year has been crazy with her being sick so much and all the trials we have been faced with but I wouldn't change it for anything!

I would have done a collage of the last year...but I have no idea how to make one...can anyone give me directions??
